GreenFiber Attic Cleaning & Rodent Proofing in Anaheim: What to Know First

We clean and rodent-proof attics with GreenFiber insulation in Anaheim, and most jobs are done in one day. A typical attic cleanout with sanitizing and rodent exclusion runs $1,400 to $2,800 depending on attic size and how much damage you’re dealing with. As an independent GreenFiber service provider, we’re not affiliated with the manufacturer, but we’ve worked on their blown-in cellulose in hundreds of Anaheim attics since 2000.

This page is for homeowners who have GreenFiber insulation and have discovered rodents living in it, or old contamination they want gone. If you’ve been up there and found droppings, tunnels, or that stale ammonia smell, call us at (657) 214-8224. A live person answers, even at 2 a.m. That’s just how we operate.

How GreenFiber Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Cellulose settles and compresses under rodent traffic. GreenFiber blown-in cellulose (their Insulation Plus and Sanctuary lines) is loose-fill. When rats and mice nest in it, they pack it down into dense, matted pockets. The R-value drops in those spots, and the compressed material holds urine and moisture against your ceiling drywall. We remove all of it, inspect what’s underneath, and only then talk about replacement.
  • Borate fire treatment doesn’t stop rodents. GreenFiber adds borates for fire resistance and mold resistance, which is good, but rodents don’t care. They chew through it, tunnel through it, and leave feces throughout. Borates also don’t neutralize urine odors. The sanitation step is what kills the smell. Not the insulation itself.
  • Contaminated cellulose can’t be spot-cleaned. You can’t just scoop out the dirty spots with loose-fill insulation. Rodent urine spreads through the material by capillary action, and a localized mess usually means contamination extends well beyond what you can see. We treat the whole attic as one job, not a patch job.
  • Baffles and vents get shredded or blocked. Rodents love chewing the cardboard or foam baffles around soffit vents. GreenFiber installs often rely on those baffles to keep insulation off the vent openings. When rodents destroy them, your airflow drops and your attic runs hot. Part of every rodent-proofing job is replacing damaged baffles and resealing the vent perimeter.
  • Loose-fill hides entry points. With batt insulation, you can often see daylight through a gap. With GreenFiber blown-in cellulose, rodent entry points hide under the material. We pull back insulation along the eaves, top plates, and pipe penetrations to find every hole, then seal them with steel wool, hardware cloth, and sealant. This is the exclusion step most companies skip.

Our GreenFiber Attic Cleaning & Rodent Proofing Process

  1. 1
Attic inspection and quote. We go up, measure the square footage, photograph the damage, and find the entry points. You get a written quote before any work starts. No vague numbers, no surprise line items.
  2. 2
Rodent exclusion first. We seal every entry point we can find, from dime-sized gaps around plumbing vents to torn gable screens. If we don’t close the door, the rodents come right back, and you’ve wasted your money.
  3. 3
Full GreenFiber removal. We vacuum out all the contaminated cellulose using commercial insulation removal equipment, bag it, and haul it off. Your attic goes down to the decking.
  4. 4
Sanitizing and decontamination. We fog the attic with an enzyme-based sanitizer that breaks down urine, feces, and odor at the source. This is the step that makes your house stop smelling like a rodent cage.
  5. 5
Air sealing and baffle replacement. While the attic is empty, we seal top plates, can lights, and any other gaps into your living space. We replace chewed baffles and make sure soffit vents breathe properly.
  6. 6
Fresh insulation and final walkthrough. If you’re replacing with new GreenFiber or another brand like Owens Corning or Johns Manville, we blow it in to the correct depth for Anaheim’s climate zone. Then we walk you through what we did and why. Every job carries our Done Right Promise. If it’s not right, we come back and make it right.

What GreenFiber Attic Cleaning & Rodent Proofing Costs in Anaheim

Here’s what we see on typical Anaheim jobs, based on attic size and condition:

  • Small attic (under 800 sq ft), light rodent activity: $1,400 to $1,800
  • Average Anaheim ranch home (1,000 to 1,500 sq ft attic), moderate contamination: $1,800 to $2,400
  • Larger two-story home or severe infestation with heavy nesting: $2,400 to $3,200
  • Extreme cases with damaged ductwork or chewed wiring: Add $300 to $900 depending on what we find

What moves the price is attic size, how much contamination is present, and how many entry points need sealing. A house near the Santa Ana River bottom tends to have more rodent pressure than one up in the hills. Call (657) 214-8224 and we’ll give you an exact number after we see the attic. Estimates are free, and there’s no trip charge inside our service county.

Why Anaheim Homeowners Call Walt’s Insulation for GreenFiber Work

Walt Brenner started this company in 2000 out of a simple frustration: too many contractors overpromise and disappear. We’re the one down the road. A real business with a published address and license number, not an 800 number that routes to a call center in another state. When you call, a live person picks up. When a technician arrives, they’re background-checked, uniformed, and they actually know GreenFiber products because we’ve been removing and reinstalling them for over 25 years. We also work with Reflectix for radiant barrier needs, so if your attic cleaning reveals a heat problem, we can address it the same day. Seniors and veterans always get 10% off. Always.

We do the job right the first time, because we’re the ones who have to stand behind it.
